Origin
German Ulrich Dausien, the founder of Jack Wolfskin, is an outdoorsman at heart, but in his younger years was constantly irritated by the poor quality of the equipment available. This together with his passion for entrepreneurship led to Jack Wolfskin in 1981, and the brand has since become an integral part of the outdoor world. Right from the start, Dausien knew what he wanted to achieve: to give everyone access to functional outdoor equipment that would allow people to experience the wilderness with greater ease. Jack Wolfskin advocates a shared enjoyment of hiking and distance from the hectic life of everyday life.

Technologies and innovations
Texapore
Texapore is the name of the membranes developed by Jack Wolfskin itself. They are waterproof and windproof membranes made of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers. Texapore technology comes in a Core and a Pro variant. The Core is designed for protection against short showers, while the Pro is mainly used in clothing designed for multi-day hikes. There is also an Ecosphere version of both versions, which is made entirely of recycled polyester.

Texatherm
Texatherm is a synthetic insulation material. developed by Jack Wolfskin. The water-resistant material consists of at least 80% recycled polyester. There are both Core and Pro variants of Texatherm, with the latter offering the best performance.
Texashield
For much of its softshell clothing in particular, Jack Wolfskin has developed Texashield technology. This clothing technology comes in two variants, namely the Texashield Core and the Texashield Pro. Both variants consist of elastic materials and therefore offer the wearer plenty of freedom of movement. The Pro variant is extra warm due to the presence of an extra inner layer. The Core variant is windproof, slightly waterproof and highly breathable. The Pro version offers better protection against wind and water, but is slightly less breathable as a result.
Sustainability
Jack Wolfskin and PFC's
Like most other outdoor brands, Jack Wolfskin is making every effort to completely avoid the use of PFC's in its own products. The German brand can now safely be called a frontrunner. For instance, Jack Wolfskin's entire clothing and equipment line is PFC-free. The footwear segment currently sits at around 80% PFC-free, but the goal and expectation is that this will also be completely PFC-free within a few seasons.
Down, leather and wool
Jack Wolfskin veroordeelt het levend plukken van dons en het vetmesten van ganzen en eenden. All the down used by the brand in clothing and sleeping bags therefore complies with the Responsible Down Standard. The leather used exclusively in Jack Wolfskin shoes is always a by-product of the regular food production process. Ook is het leer nimmer afkomstig van beschermde dieren. Het merinowol dat in kleding van Jack Wolfskin wordt gebruikt, is tot slot altijd van mulesing-vrije afkomst.
Organic cotton
Since 2013, Jack Wolfskin has been using only certified 100% organic cotton in all its products made of cotton or blended cotton fabrics. High requirements are imposed on the cultivation of organic cotton. For example, the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, as well as genetically modified seeds, is strictly prohibited. This ‘green farming’ protects cotton farmers from substances harmful to health and at the same time is good for the ecological balance in the growing areas.
