Origin

Spyder is a sportswear company founded in 1978 by Canadian entrepreneur David Jacobs. The birth of the (ultimately) American company is closely linked to Jacobs' passion for skiing and his desire for technically advanced, high-quality skiwear. David Jacobs, a former ski instructor, originally started designing skiwear in the basement of his home. He was frustrated by the limited availability of technically advanced clothing on the market at the time. Jacobs aimed to create clothing that was both functional and fashionable, and he innovated with materials and designs to meet the needs of serious skiers.

One of Spyder's pioneering products was the patented ‘racesuit’ the company introduced in the early 1980s. This sleek, aerodynamic skiwear was a revolution in skiing and earned Spyder worldwide recognition. Over the years, Spyder has expanded its range to include other outdoor activities, but the company remains best known for its high-quality skiwear. Spyder has become an iconic brand in the world of sportswear, valued for its technical innovations and stylish designs.

Collection

Spyder mainly produces clothing for winter activities, with most of its focus on skiwear. This can include all the layers of the 3-layer system, as well as lined waterproof ski jackets made with only one purpose in mind: skiing. At Twinseasons, we currently only include clothing for men and children in our range.

Technologies and innovations

EXO technology

Spyder's EXO technology incorporates two of Spyder's patented fabric technologies, namely EXO Shield and EXO Thermo. EXO Shield is Spyder's new upper fabric plus inner waterproof membrane. EXO Thermo is the inner lining. Both are designed to keep active winter sports enthusiasts as warm and dry as possible. The development of EXO technology came from Spyder's need to gain more control over the supply chain and be able to create a more sustainable product.

Spyder also uses Dermizax's membranes for some waterproof clothing. The membrane is then still combined with the upper fabric of the proprietary EXO shield.
