Origin
Arc'teryx is a Canadian brand that specialises in high-quality outdoor clothing and equipment. The company was founded in 1989 in the North American city of North Vancouver, British Columbia, by Dave Lane. The name ‘Arc'teryx’ is derived from Archaeopteryx, a prehistoric bird considered to be one of the first flying animals. The choice of name reflects the pioneering spirit and innovative strength of the company.
In the early years, Arc'teryx focussed mainly on the development of climbing equipment. The company grew steadily and soon gained recognition for its advanced technologies and high-quality materials. In 1991, Arc'teryx introduced the Vapor Harness, a groundbreaking climbing harness made of thermoformed foam that was revolutionary in the climbing world at the time. Over the years, Arc'teryx has expanded its product line to other outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding and hiking. The brand is known for its commitment to technical innovation, minimalist design and the use of advanced materials to create durable and functional gear. Arc'teryx has earned a worldwide reputation as one of the leading brands in the outdoor industry.
Collection
Arc'teryx mainly produces clothing but also shoes and equipment. Think backpacks, shoulder bags or climbing harnesses. At Twinseasons, you will find especially the clothing segment in our range. From hardshells and softshells to fleece vests and down jackets.
Technologies and innovations
Collaboration with Gore
For the waterproof segment of its clothing and footwear collection, Arc'teryx largely relies on Gore-Tex's excellent products. In 1995, Arc'teryx became the first brand that had no history of garment manufacturing but was allowed to partner with Gore. Arc'teryx's commitment to quality and innovation was a reason for Gore to waive that requirement for the first time. Over the years, this collaboration has improved and expanded with the result that currently the entire range of waterproof clothing and footwear features Gore-Tex membranes. Recently, the Gore-Tex ePE membrane can also be found in Arc'teryx clothing.
Arc'teryx Alpenex II
Arcteryx's Alpenex II material is an updated version of the original Alpenex fleece fabric. This newer version is more resistant to pilling and tearing. As a result, it has a longer lifespan. Furthermore, it features all the existing benefits of fleece.
Arc'teryx Coreloft
Arc'teryx has used its proprietary Coreloft technology in many of its synthetic insulation jackets for years. This polyester insulation material enjoys an excellent reputation in the outdoor world. Perhaps not entirely surprising, given Arc'teryx's commitment to making only high-quality products.

Sustainability
Arc'teryx is committed to sustainability and undertakes several initiatives to be environmentally conscious. For example, Arc'teryx strives to use materials that meet high environmental standards. They are in the midst of reducing their carbon footprint by increasingly using recycled materials and sustainable production methods. In addition, they exclusively use long-life materials so that their products can be used for a long time. High longevity = high sustainability.
In addition, through the ReGEAR project, Arc'teryx encourages its customers to repair their products instead of throwing them away. They offer repair services to extend the life of products, which fits with a more circular approach to consumption.
Participation in sustainable initiatives
Arc'teryx is a member of a number of initiatives aimed at improving the production process of clothing and (outdoor) equipment. These include the following initiatives:
- Bluesign
- Fair Trade: Arc'teryx recognises the importance of fair trade and ethical production. They work with suppliers committed to fair labour practices and safe working conditions.
- Responsible Down Standard: All the down used in Arc'teryx clothing meets the Responsible Down Standard.
- Sustainable Apparel Coalition
